Reflections
Area of Study
Environmental Science is something that our society really needs. With
the new and upcoming technology we need to start monitoring the environment for
it to be available for generations to come and for our wellbeing.
Expectations
This field has opened my eyes more than I ever thought it would. I love
this field of study. I realized how much we can do and are able in order to keep
this land at its best. In the beginning I was unsure of this major for myself. I
know I wanted to be in a science field.
Favorite Class
Environmental Science: As students we interacted more than in any other
class that I’ve been in. Mr. Abe helped us understand what else is going on in
the world and how we could effect change.
Chemistry I & II: I love science!! I connected with chemistry right
from the start. I loved that I wasn’t lost or uninterested. This class was also
interactive and we were able to take projects into our own hands and really
understand more behind them than just learning from the book and lectures.
Speech: In this class I realized thought I could speak in front of people
and that helped me a lot with other classes with presenting and networking at
conferences and doing a speech at AIHEC spring conference.
Required Classes
Intro to Soil: I was lost from the start of this class. I didn’t realize
the depth of soil and how much everything has to be perfect to sustain life. Dr.
Hartman helped with lectures and study guides.
Challenges from first class
Chemistry was my challenge, since I wasn’t used to being in a schedule and the
involvement from the class. I wasn’t sure how I would take in the class, but Mr.
Abe made it relatable. I wasn’t scared so much of the class work but the
involvement I had to do with other classmates.
