Shizhe’ii ei Leo Cummings wolye. Hello my name is Eugenia Shannon Kirk. I am part of the Dine’ Nation. I am of the Red Bottom Clan, born for , my maternal grandfather’s clan is Big Water, and my paternal grandfather’s clan is Tangled clan. I am the daughter of Nita and Leo Cummings. As the youngest of six children with five girls and one boy, . From birth to the age of ten I lived with family in Ft. Defiance, AZ. At the age of ten my mother remarried and relocated two of my sisters, with myself, to New Town, ND. Where we found an entire different world, land is vast and green, with the capabilities to have a herd of horses. I believe the healing from horses, which I use in everyday life to overcome the stresses of school and in life. As a child my traditional values were instilled in me. My first teachers were and parents and grandparents, they taught me to work hard and reach my dreams.
I attend Fort Berthold Community College in New Town, ND. I have received my Associates of Science in May of 2012. This coming May, I will be graduating with my Bachelors of Science in Environmental Science, along with my Associates of Science in Environmental Science. I plan to continue my education for my Masters of Science from FBCC. I am currently the President of American Indian Engineering and Science Society of our chapter. I am also the New Town Representative on Student Senate.
